How we work

How a job goes

Every job follows the same four steps. You can hire us for a project, a monthly service or by the hour. And there's a clear line between what our AI agents may do and what only a person may do.

Steps

Look, plan, build, then run it or hand it over

  1. 01

    Look

We go through what's there, what's broken and what you want. One or two weeks, written up at the end. This is also where we say if we're the wrong people for the job.

    A written assessment

  2. 02

    Plan

How we'd do it, what it costs and what could go wrong. A fixed price when we can see the whole job.

    A proposal with a price

  3. 03

    Build

On a test copy first when there is one. The documentation is written the same day as the work.

    A working, documented system

  4. 04

Run it, or hand it over

We keep it running for a monthly fee, or we hand it to your people and show them how it works.

A monthly report, or a handover

How you can hire us

Three ways to pay for it

A project

A job with an end: a migration, a cluster, an AI pilot, a security check.

Fixed price, or hours with a cap

A monthly service

We keep servers, laptops or a shop running, at an agreed level.

Monthly, per server or per user

Hours when you need them

For teams with their own IT who want a second pair of hands now and then.

By the hour, or a prepaid block

AI agents

What the agents may do on their own

The agents read metrics and logs, work out what's wrong and write the fix. What they're then allowed to do falls into four groups, which we agree with you before they touch anything.

GroupFor exampleWho decides
LookingReading metrics and logs, checking certificates and disk spaceThe agent, any time
Small agreed fixesRestarting a crashed service, clearing old logs, clearing a cache, renewing a certificateThe agent, within limits we set, and logged
Real changesConfiguration, package upgrades, firewall rules, anything in a databaseOne of us, every time
Off limitsDeleting data, changing how long backups are kept, switching off security settings, passwordsAgents can't do these at all

How we keep agents on a short lead

House rules

Things we don't bend on

  1. Everything is in your name

Accounts, servers, domains, code. If you leave, there's nothing to hand back.

  2. We write it down

Before we change something, and again once it's done.

  3. People approve changes

AI agents can look at your systems. Only someone from ZAP can say yes to a change.

  4. A backup counts once it's restored

Same for failover: it counts once we've tried it.

  5. We say when it's not for us

If a job isn't our strength, you'll hear that early, and where we can we'll point you to someone better.

Money

How we charge

Every quote says what's included, how it's priced and what you get at the end. If the job grows, you hear about it before the invoice does.
